BROOKINGS, S.D. (KELO) — Watertown handed Harrisburg Gold its first loss to a South Dakota team this season with a 3-2 11-inning marathon win in the winner’s bracket of the Class ‘A’ state tournament Wednesday.

Nathan Briggs knocked in the game-winning run with a bloop single to right in the top of the 11th.

Post 17 scored one run in each the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead in the contest. Post 45 plated one in the fourth and sixth to even the score.

Watertown advances in the winner’s bracket and is set to take on the winner of the Renner-Brookings game that was suspended in the second inning.

Harrisburg falls to the loser’s bracket and will meet Rapid City Post 22 on Thursday.
