There are 27 gold medals up for grabs on day eight of the Olympics as Team GB look to extend their record start to Paris 2024 on what is already turning into a super Saturday.

Simone Biles is back in action and goes for her third gold of the Games in the vault final, after Jake Jarman claimed bronze in the men’s floor final as Luke Whitehouse was unable to knock his team-mate off his podium. It wins Team GB a medal before Max Whitlock bids for a historic third consecutive gold on pommel horse.

It was the final day of rowing this morning and Great Britain ended a hugely successful regatta by claiming a superb gold in the men’s eight and taking a creditable bronze medal in the women’s eight. Emma Wilson then added bronze in the women’s windsurfing as she dominated the class all week but could only come third in the medal race.

The women’s 100m final is the pick of the late action where Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita hoping to challenge the might of the USA’s Sha’Carri Richardson and Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Price. Tom Pidcock also features in the men’s cycling road race.

And the swimming is set to produce another night of drama with Katie Ledecky looking to continue her dominance of the 800m free and Great Britain able to field a strong side in the mixed 4x100m medley relay – especially if Adam Peaty has sufficiently recovered from Covid to be selected.
