Is there a PGA Tour event this week? Date, schedule for next golf tournament after Olympics break

The PGA Tour season is nearing its conclusion, and with just a few events remaining before the FedEx Cup takes center stage at the end of August, the schedule is currently on pause.

The reason given is simple. Although the MLB season pushes toward pennant races, and the UFC and boxing federations continue to hold weekly events worldwide, the 2024 Paris Olympic Games remain the top priority in the sports world for another week. NBC's priority is to broadcast every minute of the Games, both in primetime and live, to millions of people per day at nearly every waking and non-waking hour.

With all that said, the PGA Tour takes a backseat, as do some of golf's best. Notable names include Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm, who are in Paris to showcase their skills and represent their respective countries.

Given NBC's obligation to broadcast the Olympics, the answer is no. Golf fans will be able to see the Wyndham Championship from Greensboro, North Carolina, from Aug. 7-11.
