    MTV Singled Out star Randal Malone dies aged 66 after long battle with kidney disease

    Randal Malone has sadly died at the age of 66 after a long battle with kidney disease .

    The actor, who portrayed a 'film star' on the popular 90s MTV dating show Singled Out , died at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, Los Angeles. Born in Kentucky in 1958, Randal developed an interest in show business when his father, a car racer, introduced him to Marty Robins and Patsy Cline during their racetrack visits.

    After earning a bachelor's degree in theatre from Murray State University, he relocated to LA. He was even recognized as the 'Most Promising Actor in Hollywood' by the Southern California Motion Picture Council, a non-profit organization where he served as president since 2004.

    Randal is also remembered for his role as Gaylord in the 1996 film Sunset After Dark, alongside Margaret O'Brien and Anita Page. While signing autographs to promote the R-rated movie, he caught the attention of producer Keven Underago and was subsequently hired for MTV's Singled Out, which also starred Carmen Electra, Chris Hardwick, and Jenny McCarthy.

    During the show's three series run, he played various characters, including Film Star Randal Malone. His character became known for his gloves and cigarette holder and was the male counterpart of Sunset Boulevard's Norma Desmond. After the show concluded, he hosted several segments for the Game Show Network.

    Randal was also known for his roles in films such as The Triggerman, Vampire Femmes, Hollywood Mortuary, The Crawling Brain, Charlie's Death Wish, Creepies 2, Psychon Invaders, Dahmer vs Gacy, Frankenstein Rising, The Amazing Bulk and Rat Scratch Fever.

    In the film Dahmer vs Gacy, he portrayed infamous serial killer John Wayne Gacy. This film received the Audience Award at the Bare Bones International Film Festival in 2010.

    Randal developed close friendships with many figures from Hollywood's Golden Age, including Margaret O'Brien, Anita Page, Rose Marie, and Jerry Maren. He even had the opportunity to play backgammon with legendary actress Lucille Ball and served as a pallbearer at Ann Miller's funeral.

    Tributes have been pouring in on social media, with one fan writing on X: "The tragic loss of Randal Malone reminds us of the fleeting nature of life—cherish every moment.." Another said: "RIP Film Star Randal Malone."

    Actress Brooke Lewis Bellas wrote: "This is very sad news to read I had the privilege of working with #RandalMalone on @angrybabymonkey #film #DahmerVsGacy Randal was both talented and kind A gem of an Actor and Human." He is survived by his mother Shirley, brothers Donald and James, sister Allison, and longtime partner Michael Schwibs.
