The 'True Spirit' Of The Olympics Summed Up In 1 Selfie

A photograph of a selfie taken during Paris 2024 has been hailed as showing the “true spirit” of the Olympics.

South Korean table tennis player Lim Jonghoon was caught on camera snapping an image of himself and teammate Shin Yubin with North Korean rivals Ri Jong Sik and Kim Kum Yon and China’s Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha following their medal ceremony for the mixed doubles event on Wednesday.

China won gold , North Korea won silver and South Korea won bronze.

The heartwarming moment between the athletes from North and South Korea — whose countries technically remain at war — went viral on social media.

“This is the true spirit of the Olympics,” the AFP news agency quoted one broadcaster in South Korea as saying of the picture.

A photograph of a selfie with South Korean gymnast Lee Eun Ju and North Korean rival Hong Un Jong at the Rio Olympics went similarly viral in 2016 .
