While the summer concert season in Delaware is starting to fade away like the victims of a Thanos snap, there's still a lot of cool shows to marvel at this season.
Here's a preview of the top must-see concerts on tap in the First State in August.
Ollabelle, Arden
The storied folk collective Ollabelle is on track to headline a concert at the Arden Gild Hall as they're set to play a 20th anniversary show at the venue.
Ollabelle's first show at the Gild Hall was September 2004, and they played there twice since, per the Gild Hall's website. This year also marks Ollabelle's 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut album.
The band started as a group of artists gathering on the Lower East Side of post-9/11 New York City. Now the band's members are seasoned stars, each making noise in their own right. That means Byron Isaacs now plays with the Lumineers. Glenn Patscha plays with Bonnie Raitt. Tony Leone grooves with Little Feat. Fiona McBain has been singing and recording with her duo The Nine Seas, while Amy Helm has a thriving solo career.
The local Honey Badgers duo will open this Arden concert.

Whitney Houston tribute, Selbyville
Singer Belinda Davids reminds the world of how dynamic the late R&B singer Whitney Houston was in this show that carries the New Jersey native's torch to the First State.

Soja, Selbyville
The popular reggae outfit Soja is marching downstate with its eight-piece band featuring Seaford's own Trevor Young as the lead guitarist. The Grammy-winning band Soja is responsible for big tunes like "Rest of My Life," "You and Me" and "Not Done Yet."
Patrons may bring a chair to the Soja concert.

Chase Matthew, Dewey Beach
After country star Chase Matthew dropped his debut album, "Born for This" (2022), it's been off to the races. He's played to sold-out crowds who love his songs like "County Line," "Everything He Couldn't" and "Love You Again."
Singer-songwriter David J will open for Chase Matthew.

Cool Delaware festivals & events in Aug: Sweet activities you can't ignore
Air Supply, Selbyville
Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock met on the first day of rehearsals for the production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" in Australia in 1975. Since then, the soft-rock duo better known as Air Supply has touched the globe with favorites like "Sweet Dreams," "Making Love Out of Nothing at All," "Lonely is the Night" and more. Be prepared to inhale a collection of greatest hits from Air Supply when they come to town.

The Glorious Sons, Dewey Beach
When Eminem headlined Firefly Music Festival in Dover in 2018, the less-famous Canadian rockers The Glorious Sons also played the festival that same year. But TGS has continued to pound the pavement and has upcoming shows this summer and fall as an opener for the Smashing Pumpkins.
TGS's catalog includes tunes like "Everything is Alright," "S.O.S. (Sawed Off Shotgun)" and "Heavy."

Grace Potter, Selbyville
During the pandemic in 2021, Grace Potter hit the road on a solo, cross-country trip that saw her crashing at motels and jotting down song ideas in these intimate places. Fast-forward to 2023 and the singer-songwriter has her latest album, "Mother Road," where she creates a musical gumbo of blues, country, rock 'n' roll and soul.

Alabama, Selbyville
There's a low-ticket warning to see country legends Alabama in SoDel. More than 50 years have passed since three cousins left Alabama to spend the summer performing in a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, bar named The Bowery.
The country icons Alabama would go on to sell 73 million albums, per the band’s bio, with hit songs such as "Song of the South," "Dixieland Delight" and "Angels Among Us."

John Gallagher Jr., Arden
Wilmington native and actor John Gallagher Jr. , whose first girlfriend was A-list actress Aubrey Plaza , is looking to make some noise in an outdoor Arden concert, while performing with a band. The singer-songwriter will play a special acoustic set in Arden with his dad, John Sr., to open the show. Get ready to hear tunes from Gallagher's newly released album, "Goodbye or Something."
The accomplished actor's résumé includes HBO's "The Newsroom," "Jonah Hex" and "Westworld."

Dark Star Orchestra, Selbyville
For over 25 years, Dark Star Orchestra has continued the Grateful Dead live concert experience, playing over 3,100 shows around the country and abroad. This includes a sold-out show at Colorado’s Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater. What makes DSO special is that on a given night the band will play a show based on a set list from the Grateful Dead's 30 years of touring or use their catalog to program a unique set list for the show, according to DSO's bio. Some of the members of the band also have played with Grateful Dead members.

Old Crow Medicine Show, Selbyville
While Old Crow Medicine Show doesn't need to busk anymore like they did in 1998, don't think they're not working hard for their money to rock venues these days. Fans of the Americana string band, popular for tunes like "Tennessee Pusher" and "Sweet Amarillo," will get a chance to see them twice this year in Delaware. That's because Old Crow is coming downstate in August and they're set for a second show at The Grand in Wilmington on Sunday, Nov. 10.

Who's Bad: Michael Jackson Tribute, Milton
There's a low-ticket warning to see this acclaimed King of Pop tribute. According to the Milton Theatre's website, Who's Bad: Michael Jackson Tribute is the longest-running MJ tribute and the only one that predates the King of Pop. Who's Bad also sold out close to 50 venues in the United Kingdom including London's O2 where Michael Jackson was slated to end his career.
