Jeopardy! fans heartbroken over 'sad loss' for fan-favorite contestant Sam Buttrey

Jeopardy! fans have been reminiscing about champion Sam Buttrey after he came out with one of "the most losses ever" on the show .

The popular game show is currently on hiatus , but that hasn't stopped Jeopardy! from sharing clips from beloved episodes on Instagram . In one post, the account shared three clips and asked fans: "Long story short, we want to hear from you! Which S40 contestant story lives rent-free in your mind? Vote below."

One of the videos saw Sam open up about his time on the show. "I believe I have a record that I hope will endure and that is the most losses ever in Jeopardy!. I believe that belongs to me," he said.

The contestant joked: "So my plan is to get to Masters, really put that out of reach for future generations." However, Sam's Jeopardy! Masters competitor Andrew He then became convinced he had taken the title of most losses.

"Can someone check the date and see if I now am the losingest Jeopardy! player of all time? I think it's gotta be close," Andrew said in the video.

Host Ken Jennings asked: "And if you're behind Sam Buttery, does that count as a loss and therefore paradoxically put you ahead of him?" Fans were loving the funny exchange and took to the comments to share their thoughts.

"I love Sam. He is one of my favorites!" one viewer gushed. Another said: "Sam! His stories are always interesting," while a third person added: "Admit it, deep down we all miss Samdrew."

A fourth fan commented: "Sam and Andrew. They’re the best." And while not every fan voted for Sam and Andrew, plenty still reminisced about their time on the show.

"Gotta go with the ham, which, come to think of it, scores another sad loss for Sam Buttrey," one fan commented. Jeopardy! fans are currently awaiting the new season of the show, which will air on September 9, 2024.
