USA women's basketball at the Olympics today: USA vs. Belgium tipoff time, how to watch, lineups

The U.S. women's basketball is back in action at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Thursday.

Fresh off its Group C lid-lifter of the Summer Games vs. Japan, the Diana Taurasi and A'ja Wilson-led American team will take on Belgium in its second contest in Paris on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 3 p.m. ET inside Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France.

With a win Thursday, the U.S. would extend their win streak to 57 consecutive games — continuing its dominance in Olympic competition.

And as if the U.S.'s dominance wasn't impressive by itself — on top of looking for its eighth consecutive gold medal — Taurasi is chasing history herself at the Paris Games. With a gold medal in Paris, the 42-year-old guard would become the winningest Olympic player in U.S. women's basketball history, with six gold medals. Taurasi is currently tied with Sue Bird and Teresa Edwards, at five gold medals.

Belgium does have one player on its roster whom WNBA fans will recognize on the floor: Washington Mystic guard Julie Vanloo, who is the oldest WNBA rookie in the league's history at 31-years-old, is averaging 8.0 points and 1.8 rebounds per game for Washington this season.
