Andre transfer update as former Liverpool target set to fulfil Premier League dream

Former Liverpool transfer target Andre might be about to pack his bags for the Premier League .

Last summer, the Reds reached out to Fluminense about the possibility of signing the Brazilian , only to learn they were not keen on parting with their star midfielder during their season. The interest from Merseyside was confirmed by Fluminense's top brass Mario Bittencourt in a chat with ESPN . "In the case of Liverpool, I go even further. Liverpool's chief executive [Billy Hogan] contacted me directly," Bittencourt said.

"I replied to him: 'My friend, I don't sell players now and I don't deliver them now. If you want to buy now, and only get the player in January, we can start talking... Or if you want to wait until December, we can talk in December'."

Andre stayed with Fluminense and played a pivotal role in clinching their first Copa Libertadores trophy in November 2023, an achievement many thought would be his swansong in Brazil. But it looks now as though the Brazilian midfielder will be leaving Fluminense this time around.

The 23-year-old did not travel with his Fluminense teammates for their cup match against Juventude on Thursday, despite being fully fit, hinting at a possible transfer. Fulham are the Premier League club showing keen interest in signing Andre, especially after losing Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich. They have been in ongoing negotiations with Fluminense to secure a deal.

Although reaching an agreement had been challenging, it's reported that Fulham have now proposed a new offer. A Brazilian journalist suggests that this offer, potentially rising to €30m (£25m) with bonuses, is likely to be sufficient to secure their target.

The midfielder has been vocal about his ambitions and dreams of one day playing in the Premier League, which could be realised if he moves to Fulham. "I watch the Premier League and it's a big dream to play there," Andre said last term.

"I'm focused on finishing the season with Fluminense and realising our own dream of winning the Club World Cup. But my dream is clear, to be a Premier League player."

Liverpool.com says: "In a different timeline, Andre is probably a Liverpool player. The Reds were keen on bringing him in as part of their midfield revamp last summer, but with Fluminense midway through their season, it did not make sense for them to sell up. That decision was vindicated with their Copa Libertadores win in November last year.

"While Liverpool do not look to be in the race for the 23-year-old this summer, a move to Fulham to replace Palhinha makes sense for both sides. And who knows, if he impresses at Craven Cottage for Marco Silva's side, maybe he could end up at Anfield after all at some point."
