MOST Olympians are hungry for gold medals – but it’s cheese for Giorgia Villa.

The 21-year-old took a bite of her silver medal after helping Italy come second in the women’s team gymnastics.

But she is far more used to tucking into parmesan due to her sponsorship deal with Parmigiano Reggiano.

Villa is one of their poster girls and she shows off her gymnastic skills in “cheesy” adverts for the brand.

From eating a chunk of parmesan to doing handstands next to a wheel of cheese, the unusual snaps have gone viral.

And Villa’s most iconic advert involved her doing the splits across four blocks of Parmigiano Reggiano.

On her endorsement, the 2022 European team champ said: “Since I was a child I have always loved this fantastic product, a symbol of Italian excellence and culture.

“Being able to collaborate with them makes me extremely proud and charged to face future challenges.”

Cheese may well have been her fuel at the Olympics as Parmigiano Reggiano market themselves as “a form of energy” due to it being rich in Vitamin D, lactose free and high in calcium to help bone strength.

And the top Italian cheese business will be delighted with Villa after she went toe-to-toe with gold medal winners Team USA that featured Simone Biles.

Nearly 15,000 residents – around 10,500 of which are athletes – will be cramming into the Olympic village between July 26 and August 11.

To ensure the athletes feel at home, a number of provisions have been made by organisers.

One of these is the stocking of some 300,000 condoms, in theory enough for around two every day during the run of the Games.

A number of Olympic athletes have opened the door on their steamy lives behind-the-scenes when in camp, including huge sex orgies and parties.

London 2012 had claimed the title of “the raunchiest Games ever”, but the 150,000 condoms ordered paled in comparison to the 450,000 ordered for the Rio Games four years later.

Condoms have been laid on by organisers at every game since Seoul 1988, when it they were used to spread awareness of HIV and AIDS.

Even with an intimacy ban at Tokyo 2020 due to Covid-19, some 150,000 johnnies were handed out.
