Shane McMahon Issues Statement Following His Meeting With Tony Khan Going Public

On Wednesday morning, news broke that Shane McMahon had met with Tony Khan earlier in the week in Texas, and a photograph of the pair together shortly afterward went viral. And now, McMahon has issued a statement to Busted Open After Dark , which Bully Ray read on air, disclosing that Khan and himself had spoken about their “ shared love for the business. ” Additionally, McMahon mentioned congratulated Khan on AEW’s fifth anniversary.

“Tony and I were connected through a mutual friend, and we had a great meeting. We talked about many things, but mostly about our shared love for the business and the rewards and challenges of working with family. I congratulated him on the five-year anniversary of AEW and look forward to how he evolves the business moving forward.”

While not officially confirmed, there has been plenty of speculation across social media that Khan and McMahon actually wanted the news to leak and possibly even helped facilitate the release of the photograph. Exactly why they would do this isn’t currently clear, although if the aim was to get fans talking about a potential collocation and gauge feedback, then it is undoubtedly working.
