Aiden O'Connell Is The NonDairy Vanilla Ice Cream Of Fantasy

In O'Connell's rookie season, he started 10 games. He struggled massively for most of those starts, having 6 games where he couldn't get into the top 20 quarterbacks with one week, even finishing as QB35. O'Connell finished the season as 27th best in completion percentage (62.1) and only managed to get over 250 passing yards twice. He also has the 4th most passes within 10 yards.

He also offers practically zero rushing upside, as he only managed 11 rushing yards on 17 attempts. Aiden O'Connell would be working with a similar offense as last year, except for RB Josh Jacobs's departure and the acquisition of rookie TE Brock Bowers.

However, even with all the above negatives, we need to consider that it is only his rookie season, and he has room to improve. It is assumed that Gardner Minshew has the team's starting job, but it is not secured by any means. The Other issue is Luke Getsy, who had the Bears operating as one of the worst passing offenses in the league.

If O'Connell impresses in camp, he could earn the job at some point this season. In 1 QB league, O'Connell should be avoided and will likely be available to pick up if he does look like he has improved. He should only be taken in 2 QB redraft leagues if you are desperate at the position. He is an interesting stash in dynasty leagues if you have the roster space to hold onto him.

Our consensus projections for O'Connell in the 2024 season would be: 119 completions, 1241 yards, 9 touchdowns, 2 interceptions through the air, and 16 carries for 52 yards and 1 rushing touchdown.
