Two people are dead after a fire in Fayette County.

Emergency crews were called to the area of 100 Hardy Hill Road in Dunbar Township shortly after Thursday morning.

Fayette County Coroner Bob Baker said two people were pronounced dead at the house. They have been identified as Lori Cossell, 53, and her husband, David Brooks Sr., 72.

Investigators say no one was taken to a hospital.

The couple’s dog was rescued from the home and taken to Scottdale Veterinary Clinic. The vet tells Channel 11 the dog suffered burns to his paws and smoke inhalation. The small business quickly began receiving donations from the community to help the dog.

The State Police Fire Marshall spent the day at the home. Investigators say the cause of the fire remains unknown.
