BRASILIA (Reuters) -Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has requested a phone call with his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva amid tensions over a contested election, a Brazilian source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Thursday.

The news was first reported by local TV channel GloboNews. No date has been set for the call, according to the source.

Lula, the source said, will have a call on Thursday with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and Colombian leader Gustavo Petro to discuss the situation in Venezuela after fiercely disputed presidential elections reinstated Maduro.

Lopez Obrador said during his daily conference call he may speak with his counterparts from Brazil and Colombia about Venezuela, and pointed out the call was expected to take place in the early afternoon.

On Wednesday, the Mexican president stated that there was no evidence of fraud in Venezuela's election, but also asked for all the voting tallies to be made public.
