I know this is a strange sentence to open with, but Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and the UFL might not have followed through with the U.S. Army.

That’s after documents first reported on Military.com suggested that “The Rock,” along with his football league, did not fulfill their marketing promises. The Army – yes, the the United States Army – is apparently trying to recoup millions of dollars they feel as though they are owed by Johnson and the United Football League – of which the 52-year-old actor is a co-owner.

Specifically, the documents that were reviewed by Military.com lay out findings that suggest Dwayne Johnson was supposed to make five social media posts that promoted the Army (and in theory would help with military recruiting). “The Rock” only ever made two.

The deal also should have worked Army promotion into the UFL itself, with marketing being done during games and even uniform logos. According to the Army, those did not work and by their own conclusions, the failures of the marketing costs them 38 recruits, and additionally, didn’t directly lead to a single new recruit.

    OOF…

The $11 million deal, which the Army is now seeking retribution for, was signed by the branch’s chief of staff Gen. Randy George, who actually appeared in one of the Johnson’s posts that he did send out about the Army. Col. Dave Butler, a spokesperson for Gen. Randy George, told Military.com:

“In terms of The Rock, it’s unfortunate he was pulled away at a time when we expected him to be present with us to create content for his social media channels. But we’re working with the UFL to rebalance the contract. The Rock remains a good partner to the Army.”

The Army is reportedly looking to get back around $6 million.
