Bonhams, founded in 1793, is one of the four original Georgian London auction houses. It is owned by Epiris, the U.K.-based private equity company, and has 14 salerooms across the globe, selling items in more than 60 collecting categories.

In 2022, it acquired four auction houses: Bukowskis in Stockholm; Bruun Rasmussen in Copenhagen; Skinner in Boston, and Cornette de Saint Cyr in Paris. All have been integrated into the Bonhams network.

Bonhams said that in 2023 it achieved a record turnover of $1.14 billion, the highest figure in the company’s history. Its salerooms are in the U.K., Continental Europe, Hong Kong, Australia and the U.S. It has 34 offices worldwide.

Earlier this year, Bonhams auctioned more than 450 props from the set of the Netflix series “The Crown,” including crowns, tiaras, gowns, beds and other royal memorabilia. Lots also included a genuine Lady Dior handbag; a vintage men’s Dior sweatshirt; Barbour jackets, and Launer handbags, which were a favorite of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Bonhams also sold Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s Yohji Yamamoto dress at an auction in New York in June. It was the first and only piece of clothing owned by the late publicist and wife of John F. Kennedy Jr. to go under the hammer.

Last year, Bonhams sold 120 pieces of jewelry from the $8 million estate of Barbara Walters. In the past, it has also auctioned personal items from the estate of Sir Terence Conran, as well as designs by John Galliano and Iris van Herpen .
