MyKayla Skinner's Reaction to Simone Biles' Gold-Medal Instagram Post Escalated the Olympics Feud

If gymnastics fans were wondering if MyKayla Skinner saw Simone Biles’ gold-medal-winning Instagram post with a slightly shady caption, the answer is a resounding “yes.” The former gymnast didn’t respond publicly, but she made a social media move that was revealed by one of Biles’ Paris Olympics teammates.

Skinner’s response to the entire feud was to block the most decorated gymnast in the U.S. on Instagram — and if anyone didn’t believe it was true, Jordan Chiles captured it on camera for everyone to see. Chiles posted a screenshot of Skinner’s Instagram account that shows no posts on the feed. When a user blocks someone, it makes it look like there are no images on the page — it will say “no posts yet.” Chiles added her own commentary, writing, “When she blocks Simone” over the snapshot. Biles confirmed the news on X without mentioning Skinner’s name. She wrote, “oop I’ve been blocked.”

Skinner probably isn’t going to be thrilled that the Olympics beef has reached the pop culture masses. Even the fast food chain Wendy’s chimed in under Biles’ post, adding, “Her feed is just gonna be empty… she’s blocked everyone.” Oh, the shade! But maybe Wendy’s knew exactly what was going to happen because they had also commented on the GOAT’s original Instagram post , noting, “Careful she might block u lol.” Who knew that a burger joint was so messy?

Hopefully, Skinner is taking a social media break as she’s limited comments on her Instagram posts, and the X feed is a dumpster fire for her. Unfortunately, she can’t avoid the gymnastics community right now because she’s a special guest at Flip Fest Gymnastics Camp in Crossville, Tennessee this week. Hopefully, the campers are distracting her from the social media feud that has taken over the Olympics cycle.

Skinner’s original comments, from a now-deleted YouTube video, criticized the athletes who were competing at the Olympic Trials. “Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t like what it used to be. Just notice like, I mean, obviously a lot of girls don’t work as hard. The girls just don’t have the work ethic,” she said. Biles protected her fellow teammates with a response on Threads, clapping back, “not everyone needs a mic and a platform.” The 27-year-old superstar must have been sitting on her snarky caption after Team USA’s gold-medal win on Tuesday, July 30 because she wrote, “lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions ❤️🥇🇺🇸,” with a celebratory snapshot. Skinner probably wishes she could go back in time to take back her unfair assessment, but the damage is done.
