With The Bachelorette Season 21, Episode 4 leaving fans on a major cliffhanger, members of Bachelor Nation have one burning question ahead of Episode 5: Will Jenn Tran’s ex Matt Rossi be joining the show?

In the final moment’s of Episode 4, Rossi — a 27-year-old insurance executive from Atlanta, Georgia who dated Tran for several months three years ago — traveled more than 24 hours from Bogotá, Colombia to Auckland, New Zealand to crash The Bachelorette and beg Tran for another chance.

So will he get one? An Episode 5 preview shows him suiting up for a rose ceremony, but thanks to Tran’s Call Her Daddy interview with podcast host Alex Cooper from June , we have a feeling that Tran and Rossi aren’t endgame.

In a clip recently re-shared to X by @zacharyreality , Tran explains her history with an ex who perfectly fits Rossi’s description — she even mentions the Colombia wedding she was supposed to attend with him before she signed up to lead The Bachelorette .

“There was one ex boyfriend…this one guy that I dated like three years ago in Boston when I first moved there and we dated for like two months very briefly, and then we were really good friends after the fact. So we’ve been in touch here and there, I’ve gone on family vacations with him before. We’re just — we’re friends though. You know what I mean? Maybe a little benefit here and there,” Tran said.

“I would never date him again just because we’re just such different people and we know that certain things don’t work for us. So we’re good friends and that’s where it’s at,” she continued. “But after The Bachelor I think he reached out in a more serious manner and I was like entertaining it as a friend because — yeah, I like attention, whatever. But I knew that I was never actually going to be with him because I’ve been there before, I don’t want to do it again. But I care about him as a friend very deeply.”

Tran goes on to tell Cooper that she and her ex were supposed to go to a wedding together in Colombia before she locked in The Bachelorette , but when she found out she was the lead she thought, “I can’t go to this wedding because I’m going to find the love of my life, hopefully! So he was a little disappointed.” You got that right, Jenn!

The Call Her Daddy episode was recorded after Tran’s season of The Bachelorette wrapped filming, which means not only was it A Real Choice for Tran to bring Rossi up knowing that he crashed her season, but that her “I would never date him again” comments almost certainly spoil Rossi’s fate on the show.

The man flew more than 24 hours on his own dime to crash filming and his appearance made for excellent reality television, so naturally, he has to stick around for a little bit. But unless Tran was playing some serious mind games and trying to throw Bachelor Nation off on the podcast, it’s likely that Rossi is sent home before or during the Episode 5 rose ceremony and they don’t end up together on the show.

Ultimately, we’ll have to watch and see what happens in Season 21, Episode 5. Until then, learn all about Tran’s ex Matthew Rossi here , watch his journey from Colombia to New Zealand here , and be sure to refresh yourself with Decider’s Episode 4 recap .
