Could There Be New Aerosmith Music on the Way? Joe Perry Is “Definitely” Leaving the Door Open

While Aerosmith is gearing up to relaunch their Peace Out Farewell Tour, guitarist Joe Perry has stated that new music could be on the way. While Perry has been working on new songs for his supergroup Hollywood Vampires, he’s also allegedly toying with the idea of new Aerosmith work as well.

“Right now I’m writing stuff for the new [Hollywood] Vampires record, but that’s a whole other thing,” he recently told Rock Candy Magazine. “As for Aerosmith, I don’t know. We’ll see. There’s definitely a possibility, but at the minute we’re looking at the set for the tour and the songs we can play.”

Supposedly, there could be new Aerosmith music in the future, if the farewell tour doesn’t stay a farewell. However, the focus seems to be on the live show for the band right now. Their last album was Music From Another Dimension! from 2012, so Aerosmith fans could be ready for some new stuff by this time.

As for the Peace Out Tour, it was supposed to kick off last September but was put on hold when frontman Steven Tyler damaged his vocal chords. Now, with ample time to recover, the band is looking at another September start to the tour.

“There are a lot of numbers that we haven’t done in a long time that I’d like to play,” Perry said about the setlist. “There are a lot of songs we’re considering, but there are certain tunes that people kind of insist on.”

Joe Perry Says Aerosmith Might Make New Music After Tour

Joe Perry continued, bringing up the subject of new music again. It seems like Steven Tyler has something planned, or at least a loose idea of a new project for Aerosmith.

“As far as new music is concerned, I know that Steven’s got some stuff in his back pocket, but I really think the main thing right now is getting back on the road and playing,” said Perry. “We’re also remixing some of the early stuff and finding some interesting outtakes, so it’ll be fun to look at that stuff.”

If Aerosmith doesn’t release brand new music, some remixes and outtakes of older music might be enough to satisfy fans. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the band’s whirlwind tour now that Steven Tyler and company are ready to hit the road again.
