Thursday, Jamie Lee Curtis issued a public apology following a remark while promoting her new film, Borderlands, which went viral. She insulted the MCU.

Jamie Lee Curtis has been on a press tour as an actress promoting her new role in the upcoming Borderlands film adaptation . She has come under fire for recent disparaging remarks regarding the current state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As posted on the official MTV X (formerly Twitter) account, Curtis is seen insulting the MCU in a tongue-in-cheek segment while being interviewed. The whole clip can be seen below, as posted by MTV.

When MTV’s Joshua Horowitz asks, “What phase is Marvel in right now?” Jamie Lee Curtis responds with a quick “Bad” before erupting into nervous laughter along with her costars and the interviewer himself. Horowitz replies, “Oh my!” before asking the rest of the cast, who notably had kinder answers than Curtis.

Curtis then took to her own official X account to publicly apologize for the blunder. She writes “My comments about Marvel were stupid and I will do better. I’ve reached out to Kevin Feige and will no longer play in that mud slinging sandbox of competition we call the internet nor will I engage in the toilet paper promotion or game play that is designed for clicks not content or conversation.” The post has been protected, so no fan response can be seen recorded underneath.

These remarks come as the latest film in the MCU, Deadpool & Wolverine, has absolutely smashed the box office record for a rated R film opening domestically, flaunting an opening weekend gross of $211,435,291 and over $500 million globally as of writing this post.

Jamie Lee Curtis will star in the upcoming Borderlands film adaptation, which will launch globally in theatres on August 9.
