Neura’s 4NE-1 humanoid robot can take over tedious tasks at home, office

German robotics manufacturer Neura has released a video showcasing its humanoid robot 4NE-1.

The video shows the humanoid robot carrying out various everyday chores, such as sorting stuff, moving packages, chopping vegetables, and even ironing what is most likely a t-shirt or a shirt.

The video, though made up of edited pieces, shows 4NE-1 excelling in each task. However, the extent of editing and under what conditions the robot achieved these feats has yet to be made public.

Whatever the case be, the video raises hope for the future of humanoid robots and it raises curiosity for Neura’s latest offering.

The 4NE-1, according to Neura’s website, is a humanoid robot capable of carrying out multiple daily and industrial chores.

It should be noted that Neura had access to Nvidia’s suite of services, models, and computing platforms to develop, train, and build the next generation of humanoid robotics.

The video uploaded on YouTube by Neura also credits Nvidia for turning the company’s humanoid robot dream into reality at a fast pace.

According to the company, the humanoid robot stands tall at 5.9 feet (1.8 meter), which is an average height of a human.

Furthermore, it weights around 176 pounds (80 kg), and can carry loads of up to 33 pounds (15 kg) with ease.

4NE-1 works on the company’s Neuraverse platform, and has a maximum speed of 1.8 miles per hour (3 kmph), according to the information on the company’s website .

One of the many X factors in the humanoid robot is that it possesses exchangeable forearms, which can be changed as per the requirement to make it serve any specific purpose.

The company says that the robot is truly collaborative in nature, and it can take over all the tedious tasks from humans at home or at work with ease.

Pushing for the humanoid robot’s acceptance, the company wants humans to concentrate “on the good things in life and use the time for creative or entertaining activities.”

The video uploaded by Neura also shows the 4NE-1 robot carrying out various daily chores, and the company says that it can be operated remotely. Besides, it possesses sensor skin and reinforced learning capabilities to get better at its job.

Rush for making the best humanoids

Neura is one of the many firms globally which are working hard to develop a widely accepted humanoid robot that can take over menial household chores and industrial tasks.

Earlier in June this year, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had said that he was betting big on Tesla’s Optimus robot program.

Musk believes Optimus, which may go on sale as early as next year, could make Tesla a $25 trillion company. He had gone on to add that he expected over 1,000 humanoid robots to work in his company’s factories by next year.

Adding to this, a short video clip circulating on social media a few months ago had sparked amusement and concern as it unveiled the inner workings of a Chinese humanoid robot factory.

The TikTok video was shared from the manufacturing floor of the Chinese robotics firm Ex Robots.

It offered a glimpse of numerous humanoid robots in different stages of development, showcasing the pace at which robotics technology is advancing.
