The comedian, writer and actor has signed a first-look deal with the streamer. Under the partnership, Youssef and his Cairo Cowboy production company will develop and create “serialized projects” that Netflix will have the first shot at ordering.
Youssef and Cairo Cowboy have worked with Netflix previously on Mo , whose second, final season is in post-production. Youssef also co-created, is co-showrunner and is starring with Will Ferrell in GOLF , a comedy in which Ferrell will play a legendary (fictional) golfer.
Youssef broke out with his Hulu series Ramy , for which he won a Golden Globe and was nominated for two Emmys (for acting and directing) in 2020. The show has streamed three seasons thus far, most recently in 2022; there hasn’t been any word on a possible fourth installment yet.

Youssef has also headlined two stand-up specials at HBO, 2020’s Feelings and this year’s More Feelings , both produced by Cairo Cowboy. The company is also behind a forthcoming adult animated series, #1 Happy Family USA , at Amazon’s Prime Video (which was the product of a prior first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios).
Youssef, meanwhile, earned his second Emmy nomination for directing in July for helming an episode of FX and Hulu’s The Bear .
As for Youssef’s next Netflix project, he created GOLF with Ferrell and Ramy veteran Josh Rabinowitz. Youssef and Rabinowitz will be the showrunners and executive produce with Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor of Gloria Sanchez Productions; Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman and Nena Rodrigue for T-Street; and Cairo Cowboy’s Andy Campagna.
