Mercedes Mone vs Britt Baker Made Official For AEW All In

For weeks, Britt Baker has attempted to secure a TBS Championship match against Mercedes Mone at AEW All In. And for weeks, Mone has repeatedly declined it. After a recent scuffle, though, the match has been made official.

Last weekend, Baker spoke on a San Diego Comic Con panel alongside the likes of Orange Cassidy, Will Ospreay, AEW Champion Swerve Strickland, AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm, and AEW President Tony Khan. Much to Baker’s dismay, Mercedes Mone made an unexcepted appearance as well.

“How are you feeling after last night at AEW Dynamite, huh?” Mone mockingly asked Baker, referencing Kamille’s debut ambush on Baker . “Another question Britt, how does it feel that you’re never going to be [as] good as Mercedes Mone? How does it feel that you’re never going to get the TBS Champion ever again? How does it feel that you’re not going to have a match at All In, because I will be facing anybody but you.”

Moments later, verbal shots escalated to physical blows, prompting Cassidy to hold back Baker, while Ospreay and Khan kept Mone and Kamille at bay. Frustrated by Mone and Baker’s constant fighting, Khan then made the executive decision to grant Baker’s match request. As a result, Mone will now defend the TBS Championship against Baker at AEW All In, which emanates from Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Elsewhere at All In, Mariah May will challenge Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s Championship.

Unholy Union Retain At WWE NXT Great American Bash

WWE NXT kicked off the 2024 Great American Bash with not one, not two, not three, but four matches involving its women’s division. The first of which saw Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre (Unholy Union) successfully defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend of Meta-Four.

Coming off this title retention, Fyre and Dawn will now pivot their attention to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill, who are slated to challenge for their titles on Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown.

“We’re not worried about Jade and Bianca,” Dawn said in an NXT digital exclusive. “If everyone remembers, we’ve already beaten them. So just like we did tonight, we’re going to walk in as champions and leave as champions.”

Elsewhere on the Great American Bash night one, Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx defeated Karmen Petrovic, Lola Vice and Sol Ruca in six-woman tag team competition. Jaida Parker also scored a victory over Kendal Grey in singles action.

Roxanne Perez Remains On Top Of NXT

In the show’s main event, Roxanne Perez defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Chase U’s Thea Hail.

Toward the end of the contest, Hail found herself desperately inching closer to the ring ropes in an attempt to break Perez’s crossface submission. A determined Perez, however, was not going to let that happen, though. As such, “The Prodigy” then pulled Hail away from the ropes and hit her with a Pop Rox to secure the victory.

“I’ll give Thea [Hail] her respect because she almost had me there,” Perez said in a post-match digital exclusive , “but realistically, everybody needs to stop worrying about everybody else around the world. Not a Thea, not a Giulia, not a Stephanie [Vaquer]. NXT is the best women’s division in the world. And this [The NXT Women’s World Championship] is on my shoulder, which means I am the best woman in the world. That’s it.”

Looking ahead, Perez is confident that she will remain atop the NXT women’s division, despite whatever challenge she may come across. As also pointed out by Perez, two of the challenges may come in the form of former NJPW STRONG Women’s Champions Stephanie Vaquer and Giulia.

Vaquer recently made her WWE debut at a pair of recent live events in Mexico. Giulia, on the other hand, is expected to join later this summer, after she finishes her remaining dates with Marigold.
