Bride and Groom send 'you are not invited cards' to guest before wedding

It’s normal to get a wedding invitation, but what about a wedding rejection? A person took to Reddit to explain the unusual thing their cousin did before their wedding. They explained the cousin is having a small, semi-destination wedding. They wanted to keep the guest list short due to budget constraints.

The Reddit poster received an invitation to the wedding, but they learned that others were sent a wedding “rejection” letter . The couple sent cards to people that are not invited to the wedding, saying “You are in our hearts on this special day.”

“Their excuse is for the sake of ‘curiosity and thinking of them.’ But what I don't understand is why send this BEFORE the wedding. It would make more sense AFTER and send it out to them.”

The user also revealed the cousins are expecting guests to have “a role to help set up.” Wedding guests are expected to help set up tables for the reception while the bride and groom get photos taken.

“My reply was ‘You're TELLING people who drove 5 hours to your wedding, spent their gas and hotel money, to set up for your wedding?’ And their response is ‘Yea.’”

The couple said they can’t afford to hire people to set up the reception. The Reddit user noted that they’ve been traveling a lot recently instead of saving for the wedding.

In the replies, several people said they wouldn’t attend the big day.

One wrote, referencing South Park: “The cards to the non-invited guests has big Eric Cartman energy. ‘Look at this amazing wedding, it’s in a garden with plants and trees. And the best part is, YOU CAN’T COME. Especially Stan and Kyle.’”

Another said: “I am always looking for excuses not to go to a wedding, and this one would be a jackpot.”

One said it’s normal to send a wedding announcement to people who weren’t invited to the ceremony, just letting them know the wedding took place. Those are normally sent after the wedding, however.

One commenter simply said: “Tacky, tacky, tacky!”
