Kiyan Anthony, the son of NBA great Carmelo Anthony and actress LaLa Anthony, has been rated as the top high school basketball recruit in New York State for the class of 2025.

Anthony, 17, is a rising senior at Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., for the 2024-25 prep season and has already earned several scholarship offers from some of the best colleges in the nation. The schools that have offered Kiyan a scholarship include Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, Rutgers, USC, and his dad’s alma mater, Syracuse.

Prior to transferring to Long Island Lutheran, Anthony starred at Christ the King Regional High School in Queens for his freshman and sophomore seasons, with his game garnering comparisons to that of his father’s and predictions that he could potentially blossom into an NBA prospect himself.

Ranked as the 40th overall prospect in his high school class, Anthony is a 6’5 shooting guard whose strengths lie in his offensive prowess, as he’s shown the ability to catch and shoot while being guarded in tight spaces. Yet, he has also displayed hints of explosiveness and athleticism that often separates prospects from potential pros.

Earlier this summer, Kiyan made waves at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, where he impressed with game highs of 42 points in one contest, and 35 points in another, the first of which his father, Carmelo, witnessed firsthand.

A little over 20 years ago, Anthony was also a top recruit in his high school class, which included future NBA stars Amare Stoudamire, Chris Bosh, J.J. Redick, Andre Igoudala, and more. After attending Syracuse University for his freshman year and winning the school’s first and lone NCAA Basketball title, Anthony entered the 2023 NBA Draft and was selected No. 3 overall by the Denver Nuggets.

A projected future Hall of Fame inductee, Carmelo played 19 seasons in the NBA, during which he suited up for the Nuggets, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trailblazers, and Houston Rockets. He earned three gold medals playing for Team USA in the Olympics and is the all-time leading scorer in the history of Team USA.
