Massively popular content creator Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast , has responded after clips of old livestreams resurfaced in which he uses racist and homophobic language.

Through a statement from his representative issued to Variety , MrBeast admitted to using “inappropriate language while trying to be funny” in videos early on in his career. The content in question was created before Donaldson became well-known for his MrBeast channel, which currently boasts 307 million followers on YouTube.

“When Jimmy was a teenager he acted like many kids and used inappropriate language while trying to be funny,” the statement read. “Over the years, he has repeatedly apologized and has learned that increasing influence comes with increased responsibility to be more aware and more sensitive to the power of language."

"After making some bad jokes and other mistakes when he was younger, as an adult he has focused on engaging with the MrBeast community to work together on making a positive impact around the world," the statement added.

On July 24, YouTuber Rosanna Pansino posted to X (formerly Twitter) a clip featuring MrBeast reading a viewer comment about “selling N-word for $400 money” during a livestream. He then replies, “The most I would pay is probably 300. Sorry, 400 is just out of my price range for that type of thing.” MrBeast later asks his viewers to stop using “the N-word” in the chat.

At another point, MrBeast reprimands one participant, telling them, “Shut up, you stupid f--got.”

This isn’t the only recent controversy MrBeast has found himself in. Last week, the content creator responded to an allegation that one of his co-hosts, Ava Kris Tyson, had engaged in “grooming” of a minor.

MrBeast said he was “disgusted and opposed” by the actions of which Tyson stands accused. “I have…taken immediate action to remove Ava from the company, my channel, and any association with MrBeast,” he said. “I do not condone or support any of the inappropriate actions. I will allow the independent investigators the necessary time to conduct a comprehensive investigation and will take any further actions based on their findings.”
