German football manager Jurgen Klopp, who most recently managed Premier League club Liverpool, may have coached his final game from the sidelines.

The 57-year-old tactician stepped down from his role with the Reds at the end of the 2023-24 season, citing that he was "running out of energy" in doing the high-pressure job.

Klopp provided a huge update regarding his managerial career, alluding to retirement during the International Coaches' Congress in Wurzburg, Germany last Wednesday, July 31.

"As of today, that's it for me as a coach. I didn't quit on a whim, but it was a general decision. I've also coached the best clubs in the world," the energetic coach said.

Klopp led Liverpool to their most successful era in the 21st century, bringing home their first league title in 30 years in 2019-20 and their sixth UEFA Champions League trophy in 2018-19.

This success came after a downturn at the start of the millennium, amid Liverpool's status as one of the world's historic clubs in the 20th century.

Jurgen Klopp is still willing to work in world football

After leaving Liverpool, Klopp was linked with the head coaching jobs of the USMNT and England, vacated by Gregg Berhalter and Gareth Southgate, respectively.

However, the two-time Best FIFA Football Coach award recipient has effectively distanced himself from those two vacancies with his recent statements, but he remains interested in pursuing a job within the sport in the future.

"Maybe we can talk about it again in a few months. I still want to work in football and help people with my experience and contacts. Let's see what else there is for me," he stated.

Klopp also added that he currently does not have any offers for a coaching role from both club or country.

Aside from managing Liverpool for nearly a decade from 2015 to 2024, Klopp also coached German Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund from 2008 to 2015 and Mainz 05 from 2001 to 2008.

However, he hinted for the second time that his days on the sidelines may be over.

"I'm going to do some work. I'm too young to only do padel tennis and grandchildren. Will that be coach again? I would actually rule that out at the moment."
