    A Britney Spears biopic based on her best-selling memoir, The Woman in Me , is in the works at Universal Pictures. Wicked director Jon M. Chu and Marc Platt are attached to develop the film.

    Spears announced news of the “secret project” on social media , telling fans that Platt has “always made my favorite movies.” As a producer, Platt has worked on films like the Legally Blonde series, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World , La La Land , and Wicked .

    In the memoir, Spears opened up about how she felt “infantilized” during her conservatorship, revealed she had an abortion with Justin Timberlake , and accused *NSYNC — particularly Timberlake — of “try[ing] too hard” to fit in with Black artists .

    The first installment of Chu’s film adaptation of Wicked , which stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, opens in theaters on November 22nd, 2024. Revisit the official trailer here .
