A guest on Fox Business Network just tried to belittle Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party using a sexist comparison to former President Barack Obama .

During a segment on Wednesday’s episode of “Mornings with Maria,” former Donald Trump staffer Monica Crowley accused Democrats and the “imperial media” of trying to “sell” Harris as “Obama in a skirt.”

Complaining about the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee’s astounding surge in support since President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race , the Fox News regular wondered how Harris went so quickly from “historically the most unpopular vice president in recent American history” to the “belle of the ball” for liberals.

“They are trying to sell her as Obama in a skirt,” Crowley told pundit Caroline Sunshine.

Fox Business guest Monica Crowley made a confusing, sexist comparison between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Barack Obama during a Wednesday segment on "Mornings with Maria."

Crowley accused liberals of supporting Harris because of her background rather than her policies or credentials, saying the Democratic Party is “trying to create momentum around Kamala Harris based on identity politics, the fact she’s a woman of color and would be the first woman of color as president.” (Harris is Black and Indian American .)

Sunshine ― a former spokesperson for Trump, the 2024 GOP presidential nominee ― agreed. She accused Democrats and the “liberal mainstream media” of giving Harris the “Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama treatment.”

“It’s almost the exact same playbook,” she remarked.

Sunshine went on to claim that Harris’ “policies couldn’t be more out of touch with where the average American is at,” citing an anti-fracking position that Harris herself says she no longer holds .

After talking up Trump’s poll numbers, Sunshine told Crowley: “The issues most important to the American people are the economy, inflation, immigration. President Trump’s on the right side of all of those issues.”

Watch Crowley and Sunshine’s exchange below. Their comments begin around the four-minute mark.
