Officials provided an update on the Quarry Fire on Thursday morning, with the blaze having burnt 341 acres in Jefferson County, Colorado with no containment at time of publishing.

A key part of this update was that five firefighters have had medical issues while battling the blaze, with the fire having been difficult to control thus far due to its location in extremely rugged terrain.

One firefighter had a seizure and four suffered from heat exhaustion. At last report, the status of the firefighters was described as 'good,' with no ongoing hospitalizations. Three of the four firefighters who suffered from heat exhaustion were expected to be back on the job on Thursday.

A key objective of the firefighting effort on Thursday is keeping the blaze on the south side of Deer Creek Canyon Road. A spokesperson called a jump to the northern side of that road a 'nightmare' scenario, which would result in a "whole 'nother situation on our hands if that happens."

The fight against the blaze continues as resources are stretched with multiple fires burning in Colorado , including the Alexander Mountain Fire, which has burned 7,648 acres.
