Olympics fans call out 'disgusting double standard' after Simone Biles' hair criticism

Fans on social media are coming to Simone Biles ' defense after she spoke out against people criticizing her hair .

The Team USA gymnast is currently competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics , and during one of her appearances, trolls online slammed her for having "messy" hair. After hearing the criticisms, Simone took to Instagram to tell the haters: "Don't come for me."

"[Her hair] WAS DONE but [the] bus has NO AC & it’s like 9,0000 degrees," she defended as she posted a photo of her slicked back hair, "Oh & a 45 min ride."

Fans of Simone took to social media to defend the iconic gymnast. " Simone Biles is out [there] doing remarkable things. I don’t give a damn what her hair , nails etc look like! Celebrate this outstanding woman’s achievements," one person wrote on X, formally known as Twitter.

" Simone Biles is receiving many negative comments about her hair when we had to live through the Mullet! The double standard is disgusting," another commented. A third added: "To the losers that Criticized Simone Biles hair What the f--- is wrong with you?"

One person thought Simone should get a hair sponsorship from a celebrity's line, writing: "So which one of y’all making @Simone_Biles the ambassador of your hair care line @Beyonce @rihanna @fentybeauty?"

Simone also shared a picture of herself on her Instagram story on a bus with her hair pulled back into a ponytail and had her eyes closed. She wrote: "Gonna hold your hand when I say this next time you wanna comment on a black girls hair. JUST DON’T," and added a kiss emoji.

The star wasn't letting the backlash get to her as on Tuesday she got her eighth Olympic medal for the Women's Artistic Team All Around. She also won gold on Thursday, making it her sixth gold medal so far this year. Team USA won silver in the last Olympics in Tokyo, where Simone pulled out for her mental health after suffering from the "twisties."

The "twisties" is when a gymnast loses their coordination while in the air, not knowing when they will land. She took a break from gymnastics competitions, but returned to this Olympics ready for the gold.
