Seth Rollins would end The Shield with the steel chair all over again if he had the chance.

The former WWE Champion shocked the world in June 2014, when Seth Rollins put an end to the iconic Shield faction. He turned on his teammates, joining up with Triple H ‘s “Authority”. He did so by burying a steel chair into the back of Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose (AEW’s Jon Moxley ). Fans watched along, stunned.

All three men went on to become WWE Champions after that point. This changed the wrestling world. Seth Rollins created three top single stars with the simple swing of a steel chair.

Seth Rollins talked about that moment in a recent interview with ESPN’s SportsCenter . He was asked if he would go back and do the same thing if he could. He denied that he would, given the seismic change in the business that came from the moment.

Seth Rollins on The Shield’s breakup

“I’ve been asked about it a lot, obviously.” Seth Rollins said. “If you’re a fan of Seth Rollins, The Shield, Jon Moxley, or Roman Reigns, that’s the one thing that kind of sits with you over the course of the last 10 years essentially. I get asked about it all the time. I’ve thought about it. ‘Would you go back, would you change it, would you do something different?’ My answer is unequivocally no, I wouldn’t. The business as a whole is healthier than it’s ever been. And that moment in time is what shifted everything. That’s what put us all on our separate paths.”

“Our goal in the beginning was to run the show, to run the business, to change it, to make it better. And here we are a decade later. Dare I say, it was accomplished with the swing of that steel chair.”
