PaperBoy Paris’ New Balance FuelCell Super Comp Elite v4 Sneaker Makes a Case for Running as the New Streetwear

New Balance’s foremost super shoe is getting a stylistic upgrade via PaperBoy Paris.

The PaperBoy Paris x New Balance FuelCell Super Comp Elite v4 might be the best case yet for running becoming the new streetwear. The marathon race doe sneaker has been hit with a massive PaperBoy head logo on its tongue in an otherwise simplified black and white colorway. As a counter to the prominent mark, the midfoot “N” logo has been taken several sizes down as a simple black block letter. PaperBoy Paris’ logo is then placed asymmetrically on the shoe’s tongue over a red “NB” mark, while “PaperBoy” is printed onto the insole with a hand-scrawled look.

Having already been the focal point of a collaboration with District Vision, a purveyor of premium sunglasses and gear for runners, earlier this year, the FuelCell SuperComp Elite v4 has a strong case as the most stylish super shoe on the market . The two collaborations haven’t dialed down its performance bonafides, though, as it retains its PEBA Fuel Cell midsole with an Energy Arc carbon fiber plate and an ultra-light bonded FantomFit upper. Even without collaborations, the shoe’s blocky midsole geometry also makes it a standout aesthetically.

The major super shoe players will be a natural area of focus for the Olympic marathon final on August 10, but New Balance has already snagged a W with Alex Vee of Great Britain winning the men’s triathlon Wednesday in the FuelCell Super Comp Elite v4.

The PaperBoy Paris x New Balance FuelCell Super Comp Elite v4 will release Sunday, August 4, though PaperBoy’s website. New Balance may also host its own drop at a later date, but no announcements have been made yet. Pricing has also yet to be confirmed.
