Elliot Page Reveals Plans After The Umbrella Academy Season 4 - INTERVIEW

Elliot Page has shared what’s next for his career after wrapping up The Umbrella Academy season 4.

The actor, who plays Viktor in the final season of Netflix’s supernatural series, which is out on August 9th, tells Men’s Journal his next film is already in production. Speaking of which, here's another The Umbrella Academy actor revealing his worst day on set .

"I have a film coming out soon on the 16th, a little movie called Close to You, directed by Dominic Savage." Page also says he's being training for a role that's not been announced yet.

"That's been really fun," he says. "So yeah, my company Pageboy Productions is trying to get stuff made."

The Umbrella Academy premiered on Netflix in 2019, with its final season set to be its most heartfelt yet. Read on below four our full interview with Page.

Men’s Journal: We've seen some really good performances throughout the entire series. Have you learned any acting tips or techniques on Umbrella Academy?

Elliot Page: Ooh, acting tips or techniques, gosh…I don't think I have something specific.

Maybe you're already at the peak of your game?

Oh, I'm definitely not at the peak, I just think, with anything, of course, the more you do it, hopefully the deeper it gets, or the better you get. So I'm just hoping that it's the hours put in.

I can imagine you've had some fun moments over the years on The Umbrella Academy. What's the best day that you can remember having on set?

I guess the best days for me are always the days with the juiciest acting you get to do. So I think, for example, in this final season, when Viktor has a moment where he [Redacted for spoiler reasons], days like that where they are just big moments for a character and a scene you really want to get right. I think days like that were probably the most fulfilling and enjoyable.

I'm quite interested to hear how your character has changed from season one to the current season. Can you talk a bit about that?

Viktor's transformed in so many ways. I mean, I think when we find him at the very, very beginning and I definitely relate to this transformation, he's so disconnected from himself, very anxious, very closed-off, body language and everything.

He hardly even knows how to have a friend. And then we watch this character as he starts to learn more about who he is, the reality of his past becomes more connected with his emotions. We really see him get to, pardon the pun, transition into this person he really is, more grounded in foundation and able to stand up for himself and learn how to handle his emotions in a healthier way.

Because obviously, as we see in certain points in this show, his emotions, mixed with his power, can lead to a lot of destruction. So I think what we see is someone go from being incredibly closed-off and terrified of the world to being someone who's really ready to live.

The series has built up a dedicated following over the seasons. Why is now the the perfect time to end it?

You want to end strong. You wouldn't want to carry it on to a degree or make it what's so fun and special and unique about it dwindle. And so I suppose I guess we feel really lucky to have had four seasons and to go into the fourth knowing it's the fourth. Hopefully we can answer some of the questions audiences want answered and hopefully the conclusion feels fulfilling.

Speaking of which, what plotlines do you think fans will most be interested and invested in in the latest season?

I think people will definitely be interested in finding out how and why Ben died. Of course, how do we get our powers back? How was this whole thing going to end? Those seem interesting.

If you could swap powers with anyone on the show, who would you swap powers with?

I'd take Ritu's, because then I could have whatever power I want to a degree. Sorry, Lila. But then maybe she has to be near the person for that power, so that doesn't work so well. Could be fun to have Luthor's, just so I could see what it's like to be that tall for a few days. Be fun.
