Is there anything better about spooky season than the black cats everywhere? No. You can find them on all kinds of decorations, and if you're anything like me, you shop Halloween decor for your house to display year-round. Some of it is just so cute!

Cuter still are the cat parents who dress their kitties up for Halloween, especially if it matches their own costumes. On Wednesday, July 31st, one cat mom shared her dwarf cat's sweet new wings, and everyone just fell in love:

Skippy is the cutest cat I've seen in months, and that's saying something, because I see a lot of cats. His wings and adorable waddle have them all beat without question!

Skippy (full name: Skippito Pepito) is a one-year-old black cat who has dwarfism, so even though he still has room to grow, he won't get much bigger than he is right now. He's fairly new to the whole TikTok thing; this video was the first of his to really take off, though a video of him getting a bath is pretty close!

His mom has had him since he was a kitten, but even so, the journey has not been easy. He's had plenty of vet visits, and as you can see, he doesn't walk "normally," but he still manages to live a pretty normal life. Let's make it normal to take animals trick-or-treating just so Skippy can come to my house for treats!

Should You Adopt a Dwarf Cat?

Unfortunately, dwarfism is something that can keep cats from being adopted once they hit the shelter. Most medical needs have this effect: if people think a cat will cost them a lot of money in vet bills, they tend to steer clear, and that is so sad. While things may be a little bit harder, giving medically needy cats a good life is so rewarding!

Dwarf cats can lead completely normal lives and, in many cases, require minimal accommodations. Because they're small and often have problems walking, you might need a ramp for them to get on beds or couches and a food/water dish that's lower to the ground. Additionally, you'll need an accessible litter box. Some dwarf cats come with other issues like heart murmurs or neurological problems, but a shelter will be up-front with you about their condition when you say you're interested.

Adopting is one thing, breeding is another. While adopting a dwarf cat from a shelter is totally fine and encouraged, breeding cats specifically for dwarfism is highly unethical. They may be cute and small, and there's even a breed of them marketed as "munchkin cats," but unethical breeders won't warn you of potential issues. Munchkin cat or dwarf cat, they all have problems.

If you really feel like you want to shop around for a cat, make sure you know who you're buying from first. As always, if you suspect someone is unethically breeding animals (also referred to as "backyard breeding"), you should inform your local authorities as well as the Humane Society ASAP!
