(NEXSTAR) — Lululemon has already pulled a new line of leggings from its website after poor reviews flooded social media, with customers saying the pants made their backsides look weird.

The athleisure company launched its $98 “Breezethrough” leggings on July 9, marketing them as “silky-smooth, quick-drying tights that give you limitless stretch and feel light as air.”

But the so-called “innovative” design drew swift backlash from many customers who said they were not impressed with the super tight fit, thin material and unflattering seams.

“I tried them on and they literally make my butt look rectangular,” a Reddit user wrote. “It’s just not flattering at ALL.”

A Lululemon spokesperson told Nexstar the leggings were developed for people who participate in workouts like hot yoga, Pilates and Barre.

Mo Jo, a Pilates instructor and content creator, reviewed the leggings on July 21 and said she “honestly” didn’t love the garment, mainly due to the top seam on the V-shaped waistband.

“I very much feel the top seam, like I can feel the stitching against my skin,” she said in a TikTok video. “I’m also not a huge fan of the…butt seam. I just think it’s a little bit extra. Don’t love it.”

TikToker Ashley Morrell also complained about the “uncomfortable” waistband and sheer fabric.

“They feel so thin, like too thin,” Morrell said. “I really feel like if I pulled them up, like if I grabbed them too hard, they would rip a hole. That’s how thin they feel.”

However, some commenters responded to her video, saying they believe the leggings run small and that sizing up made them look more flattering.

The reviews weren’t all bad, with some calling it a hit or miss . One Redditor said the leggings looked great on her and that she thinks they will be her “new fave” pair.

“I love these! The no front seam is cool, but I didn’t really have an issue with them to begin with,” she wrote . “I don’t think I got the long butt effect.”

Meanwhile, Business Insider reported that Lululemon’s shares dropped by 9% last week, reaching their lowest level since 2020.

According to CNN , JP Morgan analyst Matthew Boss reduced his projections for Lululemon’s revenue and profit growth this year following the leggings snafu. Boss reportedly noted that, based on 112 reviews, the pants had an average rating of 3.1 out of 5 stars, with the back seam being a common complaint.

Lululemon released the following statement regarding the Breezethrough leggings: “As a test and learn organization, we also take guest feedback seriously and we believe there is an opportunity to incorporate what they’ve shared into future designs. We have made the decision to pause on sales now and plan to make any adjustments necessary to deliver the best possible product experience.”
