The complete quarterfinals round of the tournament will take place on Friday, Aug. 2. All eight teams – Argentina, Egypt, France, Japan, Morocco, Paraguay, Spain and the U.S. – will square off with the four spots in the semifinals on the line. A win in the quarterfinals round will at the least guarantee a spot in a medal game – either the gold medal game or bronze.
Highlighting the day is Team USA's first knockout stage game at the Olympics since their win via penalties over Japan in 2000. The Group A runners-up will take on Group B winners Morocco in the quarterfinals to open the stage on Friday.
