Sir Keir Starmer has police forces on an emergency footing as more far-right protests are planned over the weekend in the wake of the killing of three children in Southport.

At least 15 protests have been advertised online , with many posts on social media containing phrases such as “enough is enough”, “save our kids” or “stop the boats”.

Protests this week in London, Southport and Hartlepool saw crowds clash with riot police, with more than 100 people arrested.

They followed widespread misinformation on social media about the attack on Monday in Southport, in which Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, were killed.

The prime minister condemned the “tiny, mindless minority in society’’ who caused the scenes of chaos as he announced a new “national” response to the violent disorder.

Axel Rudakubana, 17, has been charged with the murders of three girls in a knife attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport.

The teenager from Banks, Lancashire was named after Judge Andrew Menary KC ruled at Liverpool Crown Court that the media could identify him, despite his age.
