Liverpool is ramping up its efforts to bring in new additions ahead of the upcoming campaign as Arne Slot continues to wait for his first signing as Reds boss.

The summer transfer window has been unusually slow at Anfield this year but it's not necessarily for the want of trying, with Liverpool registering their interest in a number of targets who have eventually gone elsewhere. Regardless, there is a renewed optimism that things are beginning to happen for the club.

And that first bit of exciting news regards highly sought-after Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres , who smashed in 43 goals in 53 appearances in all competitions last season and helped the Portuguese giants clinch their 20th league title.

The Reds have been credited as one of a number of high-profile clubs interested in the Swedish international this summer and could now look to make him their first summer signing if the latest reports are anything to go by.

According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, as reported by Liverpool Transfer Room , Liverpool is now "seriously considering" bringing a center-forward to the club and Gyokeres is top of the list. It's also added that Slot’s side believes it can secure the signing of the 26-year-old for less than $76million (£60million/€71million).

In other exciting news, reports are suggesting that Liverpool has submitted its first official bid for Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup . The Reds have been strongly linked with a move for the 23-year-old this summer and have been keeping tabs on him since as far back as January .

Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web now claim that Liverpool is leading the race to sign the Dane having already made an initial offer in the region of $27m (£21m/€25m) to bring him to Anfield this summer, with it thought the cheap fee will allow the club to get the ball rolling on summer incomings.

Elsewhere, Liverpool may be about to receive a huge boost in its pursuit of Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon following reports the Magpies are interested in signing Real Madrid star Arda Guler .

The Reds have been strongly linked with a move for the 23-year-old this summer and it's claimed Newcastle have already lined up the Turkish international as his replacement. Furthermore, reports cited by FourFourTwo suggest Newcastle could use the funds from Gordon’s potential move to Liverpool to sign Guler.

With regards to defenders, Liverpool remains keen on signing a replacement for Joel Matip and it's looking more likely that Juventus center-back Gleison Bremer could be its man. The Brazilian only joined the Serie A giants from Torino two years ago but has been tipped to move onto pastures new this summer.

However, the Turin-based outfit remain keen on retaining the services of the 27-year-old and have slapped a $76million (£59million/€70million) pricetag on his head. According to Tutto Juve , though, the Reds are not phased by Juventus' desire to hold onto the player and could still pursue a transfer.
