Imane Khelif - the Algerian boxer at the centre of this week’s Olympic gender row - defeated Hungary’s Anna Luca Hamori by unanimous decision in the women’s welterweight division to secure at least a bronze medal .

Remco Evenepoel won the men’s cycling road race while Zharnel Hughes kicked off his 100m campaign this morning and progressed, while team-mate Louie Hinchcliffe beat Noah Lyles in their heat but Jeremiah Azu was disqualified.
