What is International Big Mac Day?

It's the day when McDonald's celebrates the iconic sandwich on the birthday of its creator. Jim Delligatii, born on Aug. 2, created the sandwich at his McDonald's franchise in Uniontown, Pennsylvania in 1967. It debuted nationally in 1968 and soon became a worldwide sensation. Approximately 550 million Big Macs are sold each year in the United States. The sandwich is sold in more than 100 countries around the world.

International Big Mac Day celebration

McDonald's is celebrating the holiday by offering $2 Big Mac sandwiches through Aug. 11. To get the offer, you will need the MyMcDonald's Rewards app. Once you download the app, look in the Deals area and if your McDonald's is participating, you should see the offer.
