Liverpool talent Kaide Gordon has opened up on what life is like working under Arne Slot and his new coaching team . Jurgen Klopp and his coaches were big fans of Gordon but he spent around 19 months sidelined through a long-term injury.

"It's my first [pre-season] in two years I think," he told Liverpool's official website having now made a full recovery. "Obviously I've been out for a while so it's just good to get back around it and get up to the rhythm, so I'm enjoying it. You don't realize when you're in it how much you miss it when you're out of it, to be fair. Obviously it's just good to be back involved in it, to be honest.

"(Being injured was) the hardest time, there's always ups and downs — you think you're coming back at a certain time and you get told no, it's longer. It's definitely the hardest time I've been through, but when you're coming towards the end of it, you start to feel like you can see the end of the tunnel.

"Now I'm back, it's just trying to stay back and keep involved with it all. 100 per cent (I feel stronger for it), because you're just by yourself. The lads are out training and you can see them training and it's obviously tough. But when you get back out there, you start to realize how much you miss it even more."

Amid loan interest in fellow young talent Ben Doak this summer, it remains to be seen whether or not Gordon will head out too but he is already too good to play U21s soccer every week having outgrown that age group. Either way, he is enjoying the summer and the chances being handed to him among some of the senior stars.

"It's definitely different to how the old gaffer was, but I'm enjoying it so far and I'll just see how the season goes, to be honest," Gordon continued. "I've been speaking to John (Heitinga) quite a lot, he's helping me with my finishing and all kinds of stuff like that, my positioning.

"It's definitely different but I'm enjoying it. (My aim is) just get minutes, to be honest, wherever it is. Just hopefully get minutes. I feel like I need to get a good run of games this season so I can get back up to speed with everything and get back to where I was beforehand."

"Kaide is a fantastic player and he has got a lot of potential," Wayne Rooney said, via the Daily Mirror , when he was coaching Gordon at Derby County. "He has come through the academy. He has got a lot of development to do and he is definitely at the right place to do that.

"Of course, there will be interest in Kaide because he is a fantastic player, so we expect there to be interest in him. We can control what we are doing at this football club, but we can't control if other teams make bids for our players."

Liverpool.com says: Gordon looks ready to go out on loan and there will be no shortage of interest in him this summer. If he gets his next move right, he could really take a big step forward and prove himself ready to make a big impact at Anfield.
