ABC has shared the first Doctor Odyssey trailer for the upcoming medical procedural drama, which hails from Glee and 9-1-1creator Ryan Murphy.

“In the series, Max is the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship where the staff works hard and plays harder,” reads the official logline. “It’s all hands on deck as Max and his small but mighty medical team navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore.”

When is the Doctor Odyssey release date?

Doctor Odyssey is scheduled to make its debut on Thursday, September 26, 2024 on ABC. Described as a high-octane medical procedural, the series stars Joshua Jackson (The Affair), Don Johnson (Miami Vice), Phillipa Soo (Hamilton), and Sean Teale (The Gifted).

The series is written and executive produced by Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken, with Paris Barclay serving as the director. In addition to leading the cast, Jackson is also executive producing alongside Barclay, Eric Paquette, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson and Nissa Diederich. It is a production by 20th Television.

Jackson is no stranger to the medical genre as he previously portrayed a doctor in 2021’s crime thriller Dr. Death. His most recent TV project was Paramount+’s series adaptation of the 1987 movie Fatal Attraction. He will next be seen in Sony Pictures’ newest Karate Kid movie with Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan.
