The New England Patriots are boosting their offensive tackle depth.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the team is expected to bring in former Arizona State standout offensive lineman Kellen Diesch and sign him to the roster.

The timing of this signing is of note considering veteran Tyrone Wheatley Jr. didn’t practice on Thursday.

Diesch is a former Second-team All-Pac-12 lineman who stands at 6-foot-7 and 300 pounds. He went undrafted out of college and signed with the Miami Dolphins. However, his stay in South Beach was short-lived as he was waived four months later. He has since bounced around to the Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Cleveland Browns claimed him off waivers in May, but he was released two days later due to a failed physical.

He’ll have another opportunity to prove himself with a Patriots football team with more questions than answers right now at the offensive tackle position.
