The next game in The Dark Pictures Anthology , created by Supermassive Games, will be fully revealed at Gamescom in August.

On X (formerly Twitter) , Supermassive released a teaser image featuring a shot of a magenta planet with the words, “We hear Gamescom will be out of this world.”

We already know the title of the next game , The Dark Pictures: Directive 8020 , which will be the first sci-fi horror game in the franchise. The title was revealed in a teaser at the end of the previous game, The Devil in Me, which was released in 2022.

The reveal will likely happen at Gamescom Opening Night Live , which takes place on August 20, 2024, at 8pm CEST/11am PT. You can watch the show on platforms like YouTube and Twitch, and like in previous years, Geoff Keighley will host it.

The Dark Pictures Anthology debuted in 2019 as a set of new narrative horror games inspired by Supermassive’s work on Until Dawn. The first title, Man of Medan , puts players in the middle of a terrifying ghost ship, with your decisions determining who’ll make it out alive.

This was followed by Little Hope in 2020, inspired by the Salem Witch Trials, and House of Ashes in 2021, inspired by Aliens and The Descent . The last game, The Devil in Me, is Supermassive’s take on serial killer horror like The Shining .

Each game has also starred a prominent actor in a leading role, including Shawn Ashmore, Will Poulter, Ashley Tisdale, and Jessie Buckley. Presumably, the same thing will happen for Directive 8020 , which is being labelled as the start of Season 2 for The Dark Pictures.

We don’t currently know what systems Directive 8020 is being developed for, but the rest of the series was released for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
