The results are in for Tennessee's primary election on Thursday, but we aren't done with the election year just yet.
In just a couple of months , voters will once again be back at the polling booth to vote for who will represent them at the state and federal levels and who will be in the White House for the next four years. While the general election is not until Nov. 5, there are several key dates that voters, or people who want to vote, need to be aware of.
Here's a look at everything you need to know ahead of the general election.
Who won in the primary election?
Here's a look at some of the results from the Aug. 1 primary:
Marsha Blackburn vs. Gloria Johnson in November
Incumbent U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn won her GOP primary on Thursday and now must face Democratic state Rep. Gloria Johnson in the fall.
Johnson beat out Memphis advocate Marquita Bradshaw, Lola Denise Brown and Civil Miller-Watkins to clinch the nomination. Now she faces an uphill battle to try and unseat Blackburn, who is looking to win her second term in the U.S. Senate.
"In 2018 Marsha Blackburn won by 200,000 votes," Johnson said during the campaign. "We know there are 300,000 Democratic voters who haven't voted in the last few cycles. We get those folks to the polls, we win this race."
Alongside the Senate bid, Johnson is also running for reelection in House District 90 in Knox County. Johnson is unopposed in the race.
When do we vote for president in 2024?
The general election is on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
