A safety alert has been issued at the 2024 Paris Olympics, new reports reveal.

According to several publications, including The Mirror , the Summer Olympics have been stalled by a potential bomb threat in the area surounding the Stade de France stadium, where the Games have been taking place for the past week.

Part of the area near the stadium has apparently been blocked off after police found what was described as a "suspicious object" at the Saint-Denis Porte de Paris train station. Police are said to be waiting for the bomb squad to arrive.

According to German newspaper Bild , which initially reported the news, the train station has been evacuated and temporarily shut down as a result of the safety concern.

It is not yet clear when the train station will be reopening.

"Ohh its sad," one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter) after hearing the alarming news.

Another person added , "I can't say that I'm surprised. Sad times."

Someone else wanted to know, "WTH is wrong with people?!"

The stadium hosting the Olympics was said to have been empty at the time the bomb alert was issued, after the first events of the day ended at 1:00 pm CEST.

The next session started just before 6:00 p.m. CEST, and fortunately, reporters on the scene, namely CBS' Devin Heroux , confirmed that the stadium returned to normal about an hour earlier, with fans piling into the venue to watch the rest of the Olympic events planned for the day.

"The venues have been packed. The fans have been energetic and have elevated the performances of the athletes at Paris 2024," Heroux wrote on X around 5 p.m. in Paris. "And they’re heading to Stade de France for the opening night session of Athletics. Upwards of 70,000 expected. Can’t wait."

We can only hope that the situation will soon be under control, and that the 2024 Summer Olympics can proceed like normal until the final day of the Games on Sunday, Aug. 11.
