Oconee County Little League remained alive in the Southeast Region Tournament on Friday with an 8-6 win over South Carolina's Irmo Little League. The win knocked out South Carolina, while Oconee County, the Georgia state champions, advanced to a 1 p.m. game Saturday in the losers bracket.
Georgia football coach Kirby Smart was sure to take note of his son Andrew, who hit a solo home run early to tie the game at 1-1.

The younger Smart pounded his chest as he rounded third base as a sign to fire his teammates up. Smart started pitching in the Game 1 loss Thursday to North Carolina. He pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed just one run. He didn't factor in the decision.
Andrew's mom, Mary Beth, was in attendance and was shown celebrating as Andrew rounded the bases.
Kirby Smart spoke Thursday, the opening day of Georgia football's fall camp, about watching his children compete in sports, and spending time with family.
"I'm awful proud of all my kids, including Julia, and I got to spend a lot of time in recent last month with them," Kirby Smart said. "I appreciate that time that we get away. You don't get it back. People have told me over and over, they're going to be gone before you know it. They're going to be out of the house, and you're going to be wishing you had done more. I don't want to have any regrets. I spent a lot of time with them over the last month, really.”
