The Man on Fire Netflix series has added Bobby Cannavale to the cast.

In June 2024, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman, Candyman) was tapped to lead Netflix’s forthcoming Man on Fire series, which is based on A.J. Quinnell’s novel of the same name. The novel was previously adapted into a 2004 movie directed by Tony Scott that starred Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning.

Now, per Variety, Cannavale has been added to the cast of the series in a guest star role.

Who is Bobby Cannavale playing in Netflix’s Man on Fire series?

Cannavale will play a character named Paul Rayburn in the series. Deadline describes him as an “ex-Special Forces soldier who possesses a unique ability to read people. He is charming, nurturing, and protective of those he cares for. Despite his warm, fatherly nature, his years of service in the field have given him an acute awareness of violence and human behavior. Quick-witted and incredibly intellectual, he is likely to have all the answers, and if not, he will find them.”

In addition to Abdul-Mateen II and Cannavale, the Man on Fire series stars Billie Boullet.

“Once a high-functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary, known for surviving even the most desolate of situations, Creasy is now plagued with intense PTSD,” the official logline for the show, which comes from showrunner Kyle Killen, reads. “Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But, before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.”

Cannavale’s filmography includes 2006’s Snakes on a Plane, 2010’s The Other Guys, 2014’s Chef, 2015’s Spy, 2017’s I, Tonya, 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, 2019’s The Irishman, and 2024’s MaXXXine, among other titles. He also plays Jim Paxton in the MCU.

A release date for Netflix’s Man on Fire series has not yet been announced.
