Sabrina Carpenter has seen a flurry of support from fans who want her to play Britney Spears in an upcoming biopic about her life .
After Universal Pictures secured the rights to her autobiography The Woman In Me beating off competition from the likes of Barbie star Margot Robbie and Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes, it's full steam ahead for the movie which will tell the story of her tumultuous life as a globally recognised pop star .
Universal have also acquired the rights to Britney's music back catalogue in an eight-figure deal which will ensure all of her biggest hits will feature on the soundtrack to the film.
As of yet no casting announcements have been made but loyal followers of Sabrina have already taken to social media to air their support for her securing the role. The former Disney star is no stranger to Hollywood and has gained more attention from movie fans of late thanks to her relationship with Oscar-nominated Irish actor Barry Keoghan .
Other stars who have emerged as contenders for the role with fans include Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney, Bella Thorne, and Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown who has previously expressed thather dream role would be to play Britney in a biopic. Elle Fanning has also been mentioned several times after she paid tribute to Britney with her Halloween 2022 costume.

At the time Elle wore a prop snake around her neck teamed with a green bra and hotpants and a cape, as well as a headset microphone as she paid tribute to the famous look worn by the Toxic singer when she performed her hit I'm A Slave 4 U at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards.
Meanwhile, a movie business insider told The Sun that getting all the details of Britney's life into just one movie is likely going to be a big challenge for those involved in creating the biopic. They said: "She has been told in no uncertain terms that things won't be sugar-coated, and it will very much show all of her lows, as well as her career-defining highs.
"That is going to be hard for her to watch but she is being involved in all aspects of the film and was part of the team deciding who would get to move forward in bringing her story to the big screen." The Woman In Me saw Britney make jaw-dropping revelations about her life - including her relationships with fellow pop star Justin Timberlake and Hollywood star Colin Farrell - selling over 2.5 million copies in the U.S. which saw her reach the top spot on The New York Times best-seller list.
Britney has sold over 150 million records worldwide since her debut in 1998. She was the best-selling female album artist of the 2000s and is considered one of the best-selling artists in the world, continuing to attract a huge following after years of controversy surrounding her conservatorship and concerns from her fans over her health thanks to her varying social media posts, including regularly posing comepletely naked.
